Our experience with comprehensive/long-range plans and amendments, special area plans, strategic plans
and community planning includes a wide spectrum of planning projects which integrate strategic planning,
extensive research, projections, computer technologies and geographic information systems. Most of these
plans are developed sequentially with input from the client, other team members and review agencies.

Map and Text Amendments
We've completed comprehensive plans for both public and private sector clients; some efforts have been joint
ventures between land owner(s) and the local governments. Our approach to amending comprehensive plan
maps and text elements begins with an understanding of the adopted documents and interviews with
stakeholders. We develop document drafts, seeking creative solutions to meet our clients' needs and
legislative requirements, and then support the amendments through community outreach, public hearings and
any administrative processes. Our map amendments cover hundreds of square miles. Text amendments
include new land use categories and other new sections. All of these amendments are supported by the

Services Provided: Contributing author in coordination with Regional Planning
Council, facilitation of meetings with the Board of County Commissioners, public

Project Description: This study involved transmission line corridors and routing
studies related to a proposed nuclear power plant in Levy County, Florida. Multiple
69-kV, 230-kV and 500-kV transmission lines across 10 counties. Thousands of
miles of alternatives were studied resulting in about 200 miles of transmission lines.
Services Provided: Roles included assistant project manager and lead planner.
Work included designing all study areas, identifying most of the candidate corridors,
coordinating field reconnaissance, enhancing the project review methodology,
extensive research and analysis, community outreach, land acquisition research and
crafting the text template for seven applications for state site certification (chapters in
the nuclear power plant application). Thousands of miles of alternative corridors and
then routes were established and analyzed to find corridors and routes that minimize
their overall impact on the area, including homes, and natural and cultural resources.
